Jacques' work was primarily with climbers and his most successful method was to incorporate sempervirens vigor into the main stream of roses. Adelaide d'Orleans and Felicite et Perpetue are two of his best results along these lines. Where formality, restraint, and subtlty packaged with completely carefree vigor are the most highly prized qualies, few roses can surpass Jacques climbers.
