At least five of Cochet's introductions are still in general circulation and are worthy of growing in many gardens. His rugosas manage to retain most of the qualities of the species - almost as if they were double sports of them. Even if this is true, he gets credit for recognizing their qualities and propagating them. These can be among the most deliciously fragrant of shrub roses.
