There are a lot of reasons for being scared of yellow. Almost every other rose color except the deepest reds, the most saturated oranges, and the whitest whites clashes with yellow. The problem is a little less serious in the case of soft yellows than it is in the case of chrome yellows, but it is still there. A primrose sort of yellow can work within a mixture of pinks, whites, and pale oranges. The good news is that in gardens that are full of green plants, the yellow will almost always be backed up by green; and when this is the case, yellow inevitably shines. Yellow also looks good on unpainted weathered wood and blue sky, so it looks good on climbing on rustic wood structures
Bun Flare is a good informal rose that manages well enough in lots of spots. Graham Thomas is ideally suited to gardens that would have old rose form and fragrance in yellow. It's a marvelously garden-friendly shade that will consort well with a number of pinks and reds. Those living in warm climates will want to try R banksia lutea on a wall or pergola.
