Yellow pigments in roses can be much more unstable than red ones; as a result it is frequently true that hot, bright weather will cause yellow petals to fade quickly to white. So there are yellow roses that look white. It is also sometimes true that roses will make much more yellow pigment near the bases of the petals than they do further out. And this may sometimes be the cause of pink and orange bicolored roses.
In some cases it seems like a faux distinction to segregate these roses from pure white roses; yet in some cases the little bit of yellow pigment changes the overall effect of the flower dramatically. It just does not seem white. Ironically, the pictured Caroline de Monaco has fallen into the white rose category, though it seems to capture pretty well what this category is about. Such are the problems we face in making nuanced distinctions. Sometimes they are helpful; sometimes they are not meaningful at all...
Mermaid is the ideal rose for covering a very large barn, roof and all. It can also be trained as a tree, reaching 25-35 feet in height. It's quite a plant. If I were a good gardener, Allspice would tempt me most for its strong scent. Each of the rest of these roses is distinctive in its own right, and all deserve some attention.
