Salmon is among the more elusive of rose colors, along with copper: they are both almost impossible to describe because they float somewhere in between a host of secondary colors. The roses on this list might alternatively be called 'pale orange' or 'pink' or 'coral' or 'buff' or something else. And in most cases there simply would be no way to argue otherwise. Still, it is useful to conceive of this color as being distinctive, for several popular roses - Tournament of Roses and America to name two - are best described as being tints of this color.
Roses in this color can be as difficult to use as they are to describe. Salmon does not go especially well with yellows or with cool pinks and roses. The color can go well enough in a pastel collection of pinks and buffs. It can go well also in one that includes buff, copper, and possibly orange or vermilion or scarlet.
The roses themselves are not the best rosedom has to offer. A number of these may be seen as being solidly good. Only Orange Morsdag (mother'sday) and Cornelia are likely to make many Top Ten lists. And these lie at the outer edges of the color space.
