The effect of a rose that contains both yellpw and pink pigments is soft, feminine, interesting, and a bit festive. Roses in this group manage the trick in several ways. In the case of Mutabilis, Summer Fashion, and a few others the flowers open with pretty much just yellow pigment. The yellow may or may not fade, but a rosy pigment develops in the sun and turns the roses a warm coral red or even scarlet. Roses in which this process produces scarlet, I have tried to move to other categories, but Rainbow's End crept in. Other roses produce yellow at one end of the petal, typically the base, and pink at the other end.
Fruhlingsmorgen is a very tall shrub, easily reaching 8-12 feet. Those who have the space for it might find it a compelling choice. Mutabilis makes a fine, dense shrub and its simple flowers have been described as resembling butterflies dancing above the foliage. And Peace may be the world's most popular rose ever.
