Comments A piņata is a paper mache figure of an animal covered with brightly colored crepe paper and filled with candies. It is hung high over childrens' heads. They then strike it with sticks until it releases its hidden treasure. Except for the striking with sticks, there are parallels between this rose and its namesake, namely, both place very bright color above eye level. The flowers are essentially yellow, but the petals tips blush in the sun to deep pink or scarlet. Arbiters of good taste may grit their teeth when they see it, but the rose is fun. And it is off-patent, so it is distributed widely.
