Comments Golden yellow petals striped with vermilion fade gradually toward buff as the double flowers open. Foliage is dark green and glossy with lots of very dark, glossy bronze new growth. This is one of the most striking marvels among McGredy's many marvelous hand-painted roses.

BTW: Grown on poor soil in my own NJ garden this rose reached knee-high in three years and bloomed once - not an impressive show for a climber. At this point it was shovel-pruned. Here in Arizona where it has received better treatment for a single year, it would appear to be doing somewhat better, though I do worry that it waited to really make rich new foliage until a week before we can begin expecting frost. This may prove to be another rose for gentle climate places. Or I might choose to grow it as an annual just for its lovely foliage.
