Comments Nova Zembla produces fine, high centered white flowers that are rich with complex perfume and the vigorous, large plant holds them far aloft. While it is never completely covered with roses, the plant does produce them in flushes through the season. Some rosarians argue that Nova Zembla is a surperior rose to its highly regarded and very popular sporting parent, Conrad F. Meyer. So what are the reasons not to buy it? It has big and vicious thorns. There are places where a shorter rose might do better. Gardeners in zones 4 and 5, however, may find it very difficult to find a fragrant white rose quite this good.
