Comments Forget Dorothy Perkins and her aggrevating weakness for mildew. Instead, try Newport Fairy, a much more vigorous and healthy rambler that will cover the end of a house in pink flowers and never complain. Sure, the individual flowers are a little less intricate, but when there are thousands of them at a time, that need not be a deciding factor. Though very vigorous, the rose can afford to be this profligate in flower only because it is not remontant.

BTW: A comparison between Newport Fairy nd Dorothy Perkins demonstrates how marketing muscle alone can cause one rose to totally dominate a market, driving a far superior rose into oblivion. We are lucky today that enough gardeners had the sense to plant this rose instead of its inferior half-sister.
