Comments In late bud stage, flowers are high-centered and the petals reflex tightly. The lilac petals also darken toward cerise or dusky rose as they open. Although the color metamorphosis is typical of teas, the look it produces is very distinctive in a rose. One rose, evidently copies it closely, though. For some time, Antique Rose Emporium catalogue used the same photograph for Napoleon and another tea rose, Beauty of Rosemawr, bred by Van Fleet. Fragrance is strong.
