Comments Orange buds fade towards copper as they slowly unfurl from a high-centered blossom. Unlike some blossoms this color, they keep their color and form well whether cut or left in the sun. The reverse is a little closer to yellow, imparting a very festive look to the flowers. In certain conditions, the red pigments may not be fully expressed, and the rose is more of a soft coral color; at the opposite extreme it can turn vermilion or scarlet. But unlike many variable flowers, all the manifestations are interesting and attractive. The plant is not immune to blackspot, and is only a good garden candidate where that's not a problem. Nor is it very happy in blistering hot climates.
