Comments It is rare to find a repeat flowering shrub with good fragrance. It is rare to find a shrub rose in a coral/gold blend. And it is rare for a shrub rose to possess large-flowered blossoms. So Lafter is by three measures a unique rose. It was bred by Brownell who worked to increase the vigor, cold hardiness, and disease resistance of roses. Though officially catalogued as a hybrid tea rose, its more shrubby nature, its informal blooms, and its ease of care suggest it fits better with modern shrub roses.
