Comments Poulsen worked to extend the pallate of roses available to northern Europeans. His work extended that of Lambert in using roses derived from multiflora stock. And the result was a lot of polyanthas. But Irene of Denmark has significantly larger flowers than do polyanthas; and they are deeply scented. Otherwise, it is nicely branched, cold hardy and vigorous. It is subject, however, to blackspot.
