Comments This is one of the all-time greats of rosedom. No rose has more names. No rose has more favorite votes at HMF. It's hard to imagine any rose has totted up more plant-years or is more likely to persist long after humans have ceased cultivating roses. It grows up into a big, well-branched shrub of about five or six feet in each direction and is covered in lush dark green foliage. It puts on a generous flush of bloom in spring. The shell pink flowers may also appear pale buff or pale pink. They are perhaps three inches across and rich with fragrance. The plant is very cold hardy and is completly free of disease. It can languish, however, in bone-dry soil or where over crowded.
