Comments Gartendirektor Otto Linne is a truly amazing rose: it makes huge clusters of small flowers with much generosity, holding them on an ironclad plant that is almost as shrubby as the best box shrub. It is vigorous to a fault, trouble-free, and hardy to at least zone 5. Its virtues are recognized by the ARS member who have grown it. Barely one rose in a thousand is rated so highly among ARS members, and most of the roses that do are not suitable for gardens colder than zone 7. The size is a matter of some question; it will easily reach three feet in each direction. By some accounts it will grow twice that size. It was bred by Lambert and is similar to Excellence von Schubert. By most accounts, however, there is no fragrance. Gartendirektor Otto Linn is a rose deserving of more attention.
