Comments The dark pink edges of the blossom fade beautifully to pale primrose yellow at the center where the flower is accented by huge maroon stamens. The flowers are single, about two inches across, and borne in profusion in spring. The show is so impressive that Graham Stuart Thomas only barely can resist the impulse to claim this is "the most beautiful of all roses with single flowers." The plant does produce large maroon hips in autumn. It is a large and very vigorous plant, with a somewhat sparse, open habit and slightly glaucous or leaden green leaves.
