Comments Warm pink blossoms open to reveal reddish stamens on a very large shrub. The deliciously scented flowers are borne profusely and contrased nicely by dark green foliage. It blooms just once a year. Graham Stuart Thomas calls it "an exceptionally fine shrub .. of wonderful beauty," praising its dense foliage, zigzag stem development, and well formed flowers. It also forms plenty of red hips which last well, keeping the rose decorative through the fall. But it's a big plant best suited for an estate sized garden.
