Comments "Everyone grows Double Delight," was the response I got at an international rose convention when a very buttoned down lady from Argentina asked me which roses I grow. It was as if someone asked me "what do you drink?" and I had replied "water." What explains the ubiquity of this rose? Two things: its interesting coloration - ivory petals whose tips turn pink and then brilliant scarlet, and its fragrance - very strong, sweet, and delicious. It is definitely not vigorous and carefree in the same sense as New Dawn or Perle d?Or, but it is probably above average for hybrid tea roses in health and vigor. It is certainly cold hardy to zone 6, but it may not grow well in cool, damp weather. And it gets black spot in warm, damp weather. But if one sprays regularly, this may be a good rose even where fungal disease threatens.
