Comments Crepe de Chine is not necessarily a hybrid tea rose one would plant for the shape of the flowers. Rather, it is a novelty rose whose large flower petals have the color and texture of red or cerise China crepe. Hence the name. The color is a strong, bright scarlet with very noticable cerise highlights, or it is a dark rose/cerise; but in either case it is impactful. The plant will grow into a reasonably nice shrub. It is susceptible to spring freezes and may be a good candidate to be raised as an own-root plant where this threatens.
