Comments "This is one of the most exquisitely beautiful of Modern Shrub Roses," says the unnamed writer in Botanica's roses. Paul Barden rates it among the best of English Roses. The blossoms it produces have a unique and interesting cupped shape that perfectly complements the feminine shade of pink. It is said by some to have good fragrance and by others to have none. Frequently compared to Souvenir de Malmaison for its form, its color, and its lovability, it also has that rose's thin petals which spot in rain. It is not, however, a rose for poor conditions. A touch of dryness or poor soil can stop it cold, however; and it can be reduced to one or two canes not so thick as a drinking straw, barely able to support foliage, never mind flowers.
