Comments Its crimson buds open and fade, ending up between magenta and pale pink. They have a good fragrance. The contrasting yellow stamens are not so bright as to clash with the (usually) subtle color of the rose. It makes a low, sprawling shrub that is very nicely branched and densely covered with foliage. It's easy to grow where it doesn't get too terribly dry. As the "old lady of old roses" puts it: "nothing much to recommend it except that it shines where growing conditions are lousy." Sometimes that's just what the garden needs.
