Comments It's a big plant producing huge, chaliced, heavy flowers reminiscent of peonies. Compared with other English roses it is reputed to last well as a cut flower. The color is pink, sometimes pale, sometimes suffused with a hint of yellow or orange. If not pruned carefully it can grow large and neglect flowering. Otherwise, it still tends to be a little spare with them except when given high culture. As with several of Austin's early introductions it can sometimes be ravaged by fungal disease, but this is not generally a problem. A blurb with a non-functional link at HTM suggests that in Montreal, once established, it is both cold hardy and free of fungus.
