Comments "Bonica blooms longer and more heavily than any other rose we've grown," says the venerable plantsman at White Flower Farm. For landscaping purposes it would be hard to do better than this rose. The buds start to unfurl in a candy pink color but the blossom quickly fades. Not to worry, there will be lots more until frost. Really, it's a flower machine. And as such it might sometimes make a perfect backdrop for hybrid tea or floribunda roses with strong, dark, warm colors. At some points in time plants on sale as Bonica may have been the "Improved" sport. It rates 7.8 among ARS members in comparison with 8.5 of the original; it bears fewer flowers, and it has received fewer awards. But what's in a name?
