Comments It is evidently not easy to grow to perfection, since most of the photos of it make it look either plain or plain ugly; But under precisely the right conditions the flowers are a glorious, dark, dusky red. The plant is nicely branched, shrubby, and disease resistant. It is also reasonably generous with its fragrant flowers.

BTW: Edmund Legrice bred roses that were unusual. It may be that with the recent introductions such as Home Run Dusky Maiden's simple five petalled blossoms in dusky dark red would not seem exotic; but for most of the second half of the last century they did.
