Comments Pimpinellifolias are tough, hardy, vigorous roses that get by on lean soils. And foetida is used to impart deep and unfading yellow to roses. If William's Double Yellow inherited only the best traits of these two roses, it would be quite a good rose. This one has its advocates for its vigor and for its yellow flowers. It's a good rose for cool climates, but it might be a little prone to blackspot in warmer ones.
