Comments Lovers of rugosa roses have sometimes quipped that Blanc Double de Coubert is a form of rugosa alba bearing flowers with twice the petals but only half the number of flowers. That may be the case. But it's still a good rose. Its chief virtue is the delicious spicy fragrance of the flowers which are moderately plentiful and are borne in two or three flushes through the season. So long as it doesn't dry out, it is a very reliable and easy rose to grow, tolerating poor soil and shade.
