Comments Five-petalled pink flowers completely cover this rose when it is at its zenith. It's a very popular rose for cool climates. It can be slow to establish, and it doesn't like hot, dry soil. But where it is well settled it can actually grow pretty large. Most impressive about this rose is its floral continuity; it seems to bloom through much of the season. Rumor has it that there is a climbing sport. It is easiest to understand Betty Prior and her popularity by remembering that the rose was bred right at the trailing edge of a rage among rose gardeners for large, floppy, hybrid tea singles. Just as many of the popular floribundas of today - Day Breaker for instance - are hyper-productive shrubby versions of hybrid teas but with smaller flowers, so too was Betty Prior in her day.
