Comments Sun Flare bears clusters of cheery yellow flowers on a tough plant that has some of the most attractive foliage to be found among roses. The flowers feature wavy petals, attractive red stamens, and good fragrance. Had this rose been bred from two no-name roses Sun Flare would have been considered a landmark achievement. But it was bred from the world-beating Sunsprite or Freesia which invited comparisons. Freesia is a bit less fading. Freesia is a bit more disease resistant. Freesia is rated a little more highly. I have grown both. While at a specification level Freesia may be superior, I find myself more pleased with the look of Sun Flare in my own garden. I think its slightly softer yellow works and plays a little better with other colors. And I like its habit and foliage just a little bit more.
