Primrose yellow petals blush pink from their tips as they open. Under certain conditions red pigment doesn't develop well and the flowers render a shade of pale yellow. Sometimes the mix of red and yellow pigments imparts a pale orange glow to the flowers. Occasionally, the flower renders white. The effect of roses at different bloom stages and with subtly different coloration is that of a collection of very consonant pastel colors very suggestive of the flower's name. A goup of well grown plants can present a whole wall of flowers. It's best viewed from a high angle, so don't put it in a raised bed unless you have an even higher viewing platform in place. The plant will grow well in Houston, but it has been called a "mildew magnet" by a gardener in southern California.
