Recommendation:

Comments Sir Thomas Lipton is a white shrubby hybrid rugosa. Under favorable conditions, it will build up into a big, troublefree shrub, and produce delicate, cupped, fragrant flowers all season long. Under unfavorable conditions it will just grow big. FIfteen years ago ARS members rated it 4.7. More recently the rating was 6.1, suggesting that it has pleased a lot of gardeners in the last decade or two. It's susceptible to blackspot and may not be a good choice for the deep US south, but gareners in both northern Ohio and Virgina report being very pleased with its performance.
