Comments Sarah van Fleet is widely planted and widely loved. The flowers by rugosa standards are interesting, pretty, and delicate. They are large and flat, reminiscent of single peonies. Disease-resistance may be slightly less than the high standard set by most rugosas. Specifically, it is susceptible to rust. It rarely covers itself with flowers, but it will frequently bear flowers with good continuity from June until frost. Also, unlike many hybrid rugosas it does not set hips.
