Comments The flowers are typical for the era, looking a little high centered on opening, then having short, wavy petals that range from warm coral through vermilion to scarlet in color. The plant is quite generous with them, too. Foliage is satiny or glossy, usually with a tinge of olive. One photo taken at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens depicts the foliage a leaden green which really makes the flowers look bright. The plant is not without its faults. It is prone to blackspot.
