Comments That it's still widely distributed and quite popular more than forty years after its introduction is a testament to its beauty and health. Its bright red flowers are borne with good continuity on a healthy plant. There is some question about precisely which shade of red the flowers might be. The best photos depict it as bright scarlet. Words such as cherry, cardinal, and christmas are used to describe this bright shade of red. Some photos depict it a bluer shade, almost rose - but some of the blueness appears to arise from color reproduction problems.
