Comments According to Sterling Macoboy it is "one of the best Old Garden Roses for the modern garden, almost as continuous and prolific as a Cluster-flowered Rose..." Austin likes it as well but in England it blossoms only in spring and fall. Botanica's Roses and some other rose groups refer to the group of roses to which it belongs damask perpetuals rather than portland roses. But regardless of what you call it, its purplish blossoms will smell sweet.
