Comments Surviving in sandy soils by the sea, the Scots briar rose makes five-leafed roses on low plants that are covered with small foliage. It thrives in punishing conditions of cold and drought and in poor soils. Capable of covering its frame with white flowers in spring, it will also bear red hips. There is no repeat. This might be a good rose for the edge of a field or woodland.
