Comments Redoute captured the essence of an elusive centifolia rose - one that David Austin is still attempting to breed. It is unclear that the rose illustrated by Redoute is in commerce. There are found roses that are a faint echo of the original. Some versions of the centifolia are tough and trouble-free. Others will be a royal pain grow. If one falls in love with the form, one must tolerate some failures. One might try Austin?s Brother Cadfael or Gross Choux de Hollande. See also Rose des Peintres.
