Comments A native shrub haling from the part of the southeastern US whose name it bears, rosa carolina grows and blooms without care in a similar setting. The two inch single blossoms are borne once a year in summer and are pleasingly fragrant. Red hips follow. Not a rose for cutting beds, it would work well as a transition plant near a wooded area. It does need relatively damp soil to thrive.
