Lambert developed the polyantha from multiflora hybrids. His highest achievement might be Gartendirektor Otto Linne ( pictured) which is bred from Robin Hood, one of Pemberton's hybrid musks. It is very densely branched and it flowers very generously. Much better known is Frau Karl Druschki. Though it is classified as a hybrid perpetual its breeding and its appearance match hybrid teas; so it has one of the largest white hybrid tea rose blossoms to be found in rosedom.
This may be the last place to go if one is in hot pursuit of fragrance, but it is one of the first places to look for tough, compact, foliferous shrubby roses.
