Rarely does a rose manage to produce an attractive high-centered tea blossom, and produce enough of those to make a respectable display over a whole plant. Opening Night manages this, but trades away flower size to do it. The flowers are perhaps three inches across - not big for a hybrid tea rose.
The plants are vigorous, highly disease resistant, pretty well branched and nicely foliaged. The parents are Olympiad and Ingrid Bergman, so most of this rose's qualities are a predictable outcome of that union. Unfortunately the fragrance is not strong. ARS members rate this rose 7.8 and it won an AARS award in the year of its introduction, 1998. |
