Fragrant & Remontant

Bennett was the first rose breeder to apply the recently discovered rules of genetic inheritance to the breeding of roses. His one triumph, Mrs John Laing, is arguably the best Hybrid Perpetual of all.

The silvery pink blossoms are chock-full of petals and deliciously fragrant. The plant is upright, reasonably well branched, and well foliaged. There is almost no disease, and the plant grows quickly.

A contemorary offered Bennett $20,000 for the exclusive distribution rights - an outrageous amount in those days. It's not hard to understand why. ARS members rate it 7.9
