Jack Harkness knew how to do two things extraordinarily well: breed solid, unique roses and promote them well.
Livin Easy is very healthy, it is vigorous, well branched and well furnished with dark green foliage. The problem is that the rose blossoms fall far short of the promise in the promo photo. The photo left is the first I'd taken of this rose, though I've seen it three or four times in gardens previously. I rarely pass up an opportunity to photograph a rose, especially a popular one, but those of this rose have always seemed so unphotogenic. ARS members rate it 8.1 and it won an AARS award in 1996. Advice: see it in real life before buying. |
