Graham Thomas posesses a charm that defies analysis. The rose is just the perfect combination of parts. The color, for example is spot on. More golden and it would clash in the garden. Less yellow or golden and it would just look washed out.
The plant itself has flaws. Fungal disease is so entrenched in my own-root specimens that I really ought to toss them. And the plant can be lanky and poorly branched. In hot zones it can just grow big and green and never flower. But as roses go it's not really finicky. And when it hits its stride it's glorious. ARS members give it 8.3. |
