Low Roses | Bushes | Shrubs | Climbers
|John Lennon claimed it was while attending an Elvis concert that he decided "Yeah, I could do that." Until I saw this rose, the only connection I had with Elvis was my love for the Beatles' music inspired by Elvis. The connection this rose has with Elvis seems at least as tenuous.
The rose is extremely well branched and foliaged. In this photo it is pruned to a pyramidal habit - I've never seen that in roses. The plant puts out hundreds of very pretty imperial yellow roses which have no scent.
The rose won an award at the Hague in 1988. It's in distribution, but has not been rated by the ARS. As has been true for so many Warriner introductions, it patent protection has all but completely prevented it from being distributed.
