Claire Martin is eager to spread the gospel: Golden Celebration is Graham Thomas improved. Well, yes and no. The color is more assertive, but a little less garden friendly. The roses have more substance - though sometines I prefer the tissue-paper thinness of the former. And Golden Celebration makes a better shrub - carrying its roses around the plant facing outward instead of at the top facing up. It gets less fungal disease. Truly. And in very hot places Golden Celebration does not have GT's tendency to make growth at the expense of flowers. I live in a cool place I am very pleased with each cultivar and am not ready to trade either for the other. ARS members rate Golden Celebration 7.8. |
