When this rose is grown to perfection is among the most strikinly beautiful roses viewed from both near and far - qualities inherited from parent Marechal Niel. The perfectly shaped blossoms are very nicely spaced on a well branched and foliaged plant that reaches six feet in height. Each rose is picture-perfect and its buff color is set aglow by the olive green foliage. But, alas, Diamond Jubilee also epitomizes the deficiencies that crept into roses when all (American) breeding moved to places warmer and drier than the rest of the nation. It requires hot, dry air and ample water. It will grow very well in a number of Californian and Australian locales. ARS members rate it 6.5. |
