The blossoms of Claire Rose are exquisitely cupped and packed full of tissue-paper thin fragrant petals. They are large compared to the similarly shaped blossoms of old roses. It's a tribute to the canes that they can hold them aloft. But whereas other English roses in my garden have produced six, ten, or - in the case of Mary Rose - 50+ blossoms each this season, three Claire Rose plants have produced a total of one perfect flower. I love that one rose much and am happy I have this cultivar in my garden. I am also happy I am not depending on Claire Rose for garden color. It is healthy and has adequate vigor. ARS members rate it a solid 7.4. |
