For three decades Meilland has been in the vanguard in developing roses suitable for landscape purposes: they have quite a strong collection.
Carefree Wonder is an AARS winner from 1991 that is true to both parts of its name. It does get a hint of fungal disease as it is getting established, but it shrugs it off. ARS members rate it 8.1. The plant is well branched and densely foliaged. The large flowers do not weigh down the woody branches, so it stays neat. It will do well in bed, border, or as a shrub. Unfortunately it lacks fragrance. And it is hard to feel very wowed by the beauty of individual flowers. |
