At first glance, Black Prince would appear to be one of David Austin's. It is healthy, nicely branched and well clad in foliage. The blooms are full of petals.
But it was bred a century earlier by Paul from Pierre Notting. The pale foliage may be the clearest evidence of the heritage of this rose; purplish roses frequently had such nearly-chartreuse leaves. We know nothing of its health except what we see here - and it seems quite robust. |
