Call the flowers red, coral, vermillion, or orange, they are a saturated warm color that will rarely seem garish. In terms of size and floral output, it resembles a good hybrid tea. It will not wow with the profusion of bloom, but it's just about the best you can get in a shrub rose of just this color.
Rated a solid 7.6 by ARS members, it also received an AARS award in 1992. It looked great planted in front of Leander on a pillar in Colonial Park Rose Garden a few years back. Note the ample, glossy foliage which is highly resistant to disease. |
